Summer 2026: Sustainable Israeli-Palestinian Projects

Physicians for Human Rights Israel operates mobile clinics, delivering urgent primary and specialized medical care directly to isolated West Bank communities bearing the brunt of settler attacks. SIPP’s support will cover transportation and medication costs for mobile clinic visits.

Combatants for Peace brings Israeli and Palestinian activists together to repair and rehabilitate vital water cisterns and rainwater collection systems damaged by settler sabotage in the North Jordan Valley. This work aims to help vulnerable farming and herding families maintain vital water access, sustain their livelihoods, and resist displacement pressures. It also provides meaningful opportunities for cooperation and shared responsibility.

Solidarity of Nations – Achvat Amim is reclaiming critical agricultural plots in the Hebron Hills, providing protective presence and needed agricultural tools. They will use SIPP’s grant to purchase agricultural tools and cover volunteer transportation costs.

Haqel: In Defense of Human Rights provides an emergency legal hotline, develops field documentation, and conducts strategic litigation to defend the land rights and safety of vulnerable Palestinian farming communities facing settler violence. SIPP’s funding will help support operating a 24/7 hotline that connects victims of attacks with local authorities, systematically documenting violations, and petitioning the High Court of Justice.

We enjoyed visiting with many of our loyal local supporters and meeting with new ones at our table in the sustainability tent at the 2026 Boulder Jewish Festival on June 7th. There were many lively conversations, and a number of people expressed interest in the current grant process relating to mini-grants addressing the impact of extremist settler violence in the West Bank.

East Jerusalem Palestinian women are learning practical Hebrew to help advance gender and linguistic justice in the region.

Israeli and Palestinian children are creating art and learning English together, via eco-focused art projects exploring water stewardship and recycling. These 6 to 12-year-olds are from the neighboring but disconnected communities of Tzur Hadassah (Israel) and Husan (Palestinian West Bank).

Conflict-impacted Israeli and Palestinian women are making marketable crafts for income generation, confidence building, and cross-cultural learning. This strengthens a grassroots ecosystem of cooperation.

Arabic-speaking mental health professionals are training in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapy, to help heal and ease trauma amongst Arabic-speaking peoples in the West Bank and Israel. Led by Israeli EMDR psychotherapists, these trained native-Arabic-speaking senior EMDR practitioners will use EMDR to advance peacebuilding work.

Jewish and Arab educators are learning pedagogical tools that support shared society, tolerance, and bias-reduction in a program called The Teachers Lounge. It aims to cultivate educators as agents of change, modeling tolerance and mutual respect and is expected to impact hundreds of students. Accredited by the Israeli Ministry of Education.

Building a prototype constructed wetland system for greywater treatment at a West Bank family farm, reclaiming up to 70% of household wastewater for non-potable uses. Led by a PhD-candidate Palestinian, this cost-effective technique can address severe water shortages in Palestinian West Bank communities. A cross-border team of Israeli, Palestinian, and Jordanian experts are also educating local residents, farm owners, and food production companies on sustainable water solutions.

In collaboration with the Arava Institute of Environmental Studies (AIES, an Israeli NGO) and Damour for Community Development (Damour, a Palestinian NGO), SIPP provided seed money to launch the “EmpowHer” initiative under the larger Jumpstarting Hope in Gaza (JHG) initiative. The initiative is designed to provide financial support to displaced and vulnerable women in the Al-Mawasi humanitarian zone of the Gaza Strip, helping them establish small, home-based businesses. SIPP’s financial support kickstarted three small-scale women empowerment and moneymaking projects that supported four women entrepreneurs selected by Damour providing ovens, basic kitchen tools, pots, jars, storage containers, shared display equipment, and an initial stock of raw materials.

The project is still moving forward, and the women are working hard to make it a success despite the current challenges, mainly relating to the cost of and availability of electricity. The women are currently relying on purchasing a few hours of electricity each day from local providers to operate their equipment. They are also trying to identify additional funding opportunities to support the expansion of the businesses and hopefully secure a more sustainable energy source for the project.

SIPP participated as an exhibitor at J Street’s 2026 convention in Washington DC from February 28th through March 3rd. Given the U.S./Israeli bombing campaign that began the first day of the convention, this was a very meaningful event. During this challenging time, we were able to connect with a number of our partners, including many Alliance for Middle East Peace (ALLMEP) member organizations.
